Hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park

In today’s video, we hike the iconic Angels Landing Hike in Zion National Park and we take you with us. This hike is rated strenuous and involves using chains to get to the top. We would say it was actually less strenuous then the Picacho Peak Hike we did a couple of weeks ago, mostly because up until the chains the entire path is paved. Once you get to the chains this hike is SCARY! Or at least it is for those of us with any fear of hikes. However, the payoff is unbelievable. One bucket list hike checked off!

Boondocking in St. George, Utah

In today’s video, we chat about the crazy few days we’ve had. We moved 3 times in 4 days but we’ve learned a lot in the process! We share our experiences plus a small look at our new spot (which we hope to be in for a while). Now that we’re settled into St George, expect some adventure videos to come.

Stay tuned for Thursday’s video for when we hike Angels Landing in Zion National Park!

Friday Favorites – Our Hensley Hitch

This week’s Friday Favorite is our Hensley Hitch. We’ve had a number of questions about our hitch so today we thought we would answer some of them and explain why we like our Hensley so much. We agree it can be overkill but we’d rather spend money on the safety of our home than anywhere else! With the Hensley Steve never worries about the Airstream staying behind us, steady on the road.

Do you have experience with the Hensley? Do you have a favorite hitch?

Valley of Fire State Park – So Gorgeous!

In today’s video, we’ll show you are boondocking spot on Sand Mine Rd right outside Valley of Fire State Park. We loved this spot…except for the crazy wind, we had for a couple of days. Being on a bluff makes for exceptionally windy nights. We also take you along on a number of hikes in the gorgeous Valley of Fire State Park. We highly highly recommend this park to anyone coming into the area. It’s not far from Vegas and exceptionally beautiful.

Stay tuned for Monday’s video for more about the wind and our departure for St George Utah a couple of days earlier than planned.

Tuesday Talk – How We’re Making Money on the Road

On Tuesday’s we’d like to answer questions sent to us from viewer’s like you and share some of the details of our Airstream life.

This week we’re answering a question that has been asked of us a few times since we hit the road a little over a week ago, “How do you plan to make money while on the road?”. The short answer is we don’t. We have been saving for a long time and are comfortably situated in our early retirements. That being said having a cushion is always nice so we talk about some of the streams of income we do have. We’ve worked our butts off to be in the situation where we can ask, “is it fun?” and if it is we’ll do it regardless of money and that makes us happy. We appreciate all of you watching our videos and clicking through our Amazon links. Any money we earn from those helps us have a little more fun and hopefully film it for you guys!

For more info on our early retirement check out our sister blog, Think Save Retire.
We discuss what we mean by early retirement here.

First Night Boondocking & Heading to Valley of Fire

After a few nights parked outside Courtney’s parent’s house in the Phoenix area, we embark! We’re heading to Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada but decided to split up the 6-hour drive into 2 days. We spent the night at a boondocking spot on BLM land on Signal Rd off of Rte 93. It was a quiet uneventful night before we hit the road again and made it to another boondocking site outside of Valley of Fire State Park. Boondocking (for those who don’t know) is camping without any hookups (electric, sewer, or water) often in a remote location and often for free!

Stay tuned for Thursday’s video where we hike all over Valley of Fire State Park. It’s gorgeous!

Friday Favorites – Pop Up Containers (No Spills!)

This week’s Friday Favorite is our Oxo Good Grips Pop Top Containers. We have three different sizes of these containers in our kitchen and we love them. We don’t have to worry about things spilling if they get knocked over and it keeps everything from our tea to our nuts fresher, longer. Win win.

Do you have a favorite storage container for keeping things fresh and preventing spills?

Hiking Picacho Peak

We’ve passed Picacho Peak close to a hundred times in our time living in Tucson. We had heard great things about the hike and so we knew that should be our first hike of our full-time Airstream travels. We had no idea what we were getting into! We made it but that hike kicked our butts. We made it all the way to the top of the tallest peak! Pretty awesome hike but when they say difficult they mean it. Hope you enjoy!

Tuesday Talk – Working from an Airstream or RV

On Tuesday’s we’d like to answer questions sent to us from viewer’s like you and share some of the details of our Airstream life.

This week we’re talking about what it’s like to work full time from our Airstream. Steve did it for many months before calling it quits from his job and he shares his experiences. The main takeaway is that it is totally do-able and in fact, we encourage moving into your RV before quitting. It gave us stability to figure out what we really wanted while we were still stationary and making money.

Do you work from the road in your RV? Any advice for someone considering it?

Leaving Tucson (Finally!) & Heading to Picacho Peak State Park

For any of you who didn’t make it through our last video, don’t worry! We’re still in the Airstream and we’ve hit the road! We hitched up the Airstream and got going the whole hour to Picacho Peak State Park. Thought we’d take it slow and we’ve always wanted to camp there! I think our first spot on the road is pretty nice 🙂 Checkout our next video for the hike to the top of the peak!
