Tuesday Talk – What Is It Like Being Back in Tucson After 7 Months on the Road?
This week we are discussing what it’s like being back in Tucson. Yesterday we discussed why we love being stationary again but today is all about Tucson. We’re back here because Courtney is working this winter BUT even without that, we would be back. Tucson is a great city, especially in the winter! We explain why.

My husband and I are stopping for the night in Tucson this Saturday night en route to Sedona. We are staying at a hotel on I-10 near the airport and I am hoping you could give us a good recommendation for a restaurant with good gluten free options.
P.S. I have been following your youtube channel for about a year now. What you are doing is our goal…inspiring. Thanks for sharing your life and adventures.
Awesome! I’m not strictly gluten-free since I have an intolerance and can handle it in small degrees. That being said I avoid it, but if you have celiacs you may want to do more checking into the restaurants I recommend, I don’t want to get you sick! The KOA is actually really close to the airport but we tend to travel a bit to get dinner when we go out. We love Taco Tote. There are 2 of these in town and they are cheap but delicious Mexican food with a free huge salsa bar and homemade corn tortillas. We also really like Sa-Ing Thai Cuisine over in Vail. Tucson Tamale is a local company/restaurant that has a bunch of tamales and sides which are delicious and GF! There are a few locations in town. If you are looking for a dedicated GF restaurant there is Gluten Free Girls on the northwest side which is delicious! I hope this helps!
Thanks! My husband is gluten intolerant also (he hasn’t been tested for celiacs). We don’t worry so much about cross contamination, but any direct amounts can cause a reaction. I have my eye on Tucson Tamale now. If you are available for a meet up, I’d love that, but if not, maybe next time. Also, if you are ever near Bastrop, TX, we can give you some recommendations.
We have a friend coming over the Airstream Saturday afternoon so I don’t know if we’ll be in time to have a meet up at Tucson Tamale (though I love that place). Since you guys are staying near the airport you are not far from us at the KOA, so feel free to stop by and say hi! We’d love to meet you 🙂
