This week’s topic is How To Wash Dishes With Very Little Water For Dry Camping in an RV. When boondocking or dry camping in our Airstream we have to conserve as much fresh water as possible. Washing dishes is one-way water is often wasted. While we don’t just spray down our dishes with a vinegar and water solution (which would conserve a lot of water) we do follow a couple of guidelines to use as little as possible. We always wipe down the plates as well as we can before putting them in water. Then we soak them in soapy water in a tub in our sink and only use fresh water to rinse them. We use our tea kettle to heat water if necessary and dump the soapy rinse water outside if allowed. While some RVers choose to use disposable products instead of real dishes, we find the least wasteful solution is to use real dishes but wash with as little water as possible.
