Saturday Share: The Art of Choice

Every Saturday I would like to share with you a video I find inspirational. There are so many amazing, enriching resources out there. Hopefully these videos will bring you joy and inspiration!

As an American I fall into the trap that Sheena Iyengar talks about in this video. I often believe that I will be happier and make better choices if I am the one to make them from as many options as possible.Actually that’s not true. I often want input from the people who matter into the choices I make. For instance anything having to do with the Airstream I run by Steve. He may not care but it makes me feel better to get his input into the choice. I also like to limit my options. I’m one of those people who when offered too many options can freeze up. Decision Paralysis! Her third point gets me a bit though. I mostly believe the ability to choose is always a good thing, but then again I have not been put into a situation where that belief has been tested. Overall her message that our feelings on choice are not universal are good to remember.

What do you think? Do the myriad of choices we make everyday make you happy? Would you rather some of them be taken away or chosen for you?

If you have a favorite inspirational YouTube video, I’d love to see it! Contact me at [email protected] or comment below.
