Tuesday Talk: Water Tank Strategy When Traveling in an RV – Empty or Full?

Video Description

This week we are answering a question from a viewer about traveling with water. They specifically wanted to know if we drove with our fresh water tank full on travel days. The answer is, it depends (a lot of our answers start this way). If we know we will have access to plenty of water where we are going we will try to travel with our tanks as empty as possible (both fresh & waste). This way the Airstream is a lot lighter, easier to break, easier to accelerate, easier to deal with mountains etc.

We always make sure we have some water though because you may not end up where you think and you want to have some just in case. If we don’t know the water situation where we are going we might fill up the fresh water tank and drive with it full to ensure we have plenty of water for the week ahead. So as I said, it all depends 🙂
