Tuesday Talk: The Story of our Dogs, Patti & Penny

Video Description

This week we are answering a question from many viewers about our dogs Patti and Penny. As many of you know they are both rescue dogs and each has their own unique personalities.

Courtney rescued Patti in 2008 in Washington. The rescue named her Frannie but she felt more like a Patti to Courtney. They had found her wandering in the snow near Spokane. She had definitely been abused. For a long time, she wouldn’t go through a door with anyone near it, would walk behind you when on a walk and wouldn’t eat or play in front of anyone. She was also extremely frightened near men, especially. Luckily over the years of love, she learned to trust and eat again. She now LOVES walks and food. What a long way she has come!

Patti & Courtney met Steve in 2013. In 2014 when Steve and Courtney were getting ready to move in together Patti was still pretty skittish around men. Steve really wanted a dog who would greet him when he came home from work. So we went to a boxer rescue in Phoenix where Courtney’s brother had rescued his boxer and asked for a dog that would get along well with Patti.

This is where Penny joined the family. Her name was Dummy before the rescue found her and saved her from a life of neglect. While she does great with small dogs she has her own set of issues from her life before. She is incredibly nervous and frightened of anything new especially noises, the wind, and people. She also was attacked by wild dogs while chained outside. She is perfectly happy ignoring other dogs but if one gets into her face, even playfully she goes on the attack. Hopefully, with more time and more love, she will settle more fully into her safe lifestyle. We do know she loves to wander and zoom around the Airstream! Happy girl!

So those are the stories of Patti and Penny. We hope you enjoy them! Do you have pets? What are their stories? Share them in the comments below!
