This week we are answering a question from a viewer about structure. They wrote that structure plays a major role in both their personal and work lives and they were wondering if structure still played a part in our lives while full-time RVing and no longer working 9-5 jobs.

The short answer is Yes. A structure is important in almost anyone’s life, regardless of work, travel etc. Our structure might look a little bit different from most though.

For Steve, he knows he is the most creative and inspired right when he wakes up and right before he goes to bed. So he prioritizes those times to make sure he gets as much creative work done as possible. We both stick to a pretty regular bedtime and wake-up time. In general, we wake up with the sun and go to sleep when it’s dark…every day. This keeps us from feeling too tired and we aren’t wasting the day away.

Courtney has always been a more structured person. She prefers having things mapped out, time slots in a calendar and lists of things to get done. That hasn’t changed since we hit the road. Now the time blocking on the calendar may not happen until the night before and every day is a bit different based on what we are doing but she still likes knowing what she’s planning to do when.

So yes in our own way our lives still do have a lot of structure even while full-time RVing. What about you? Do you still have a structure in your lives when RVing? Do you think it’s important?
