This week we are answering a question from a viewer about our bikes. You may have noticed out bikes in the background of some of our videos. We were asked what kind of bikes we have and why we chose that kind. Then generally what the best bikes are for us.

Now we do not bike for fun or exercise. We have tried but it just isn’t our thing at the moment. So our bikes are completely for practicality. We use them to scout out new locations in areas where we are not comfortable towing the Airstream without seeing them first. It’s a whole lot easier to unhitch the bikes then the unhitch the Airstream in these scenarios.

That means we are riding on dirt roads, gravel, grass, etc. This is why we chose to buy 2 used mountain bikes. A road bike would not have cut it for our application. But we don’t baby our bikes. We have them on the front of the truck when towing (so convenient!) and lock them to the front of the Airstream the rest of the time. So buying new was not smart for us. Luckily we found 2 used mountain bikes from a shop in Bend and they have worked great.
