This week we are answering a question from a viewer about filming and photographing the places, hikes, and experiences we get to see. They wanted to know if filming ever takes away or detracts from the experience. What a great question, and one not many people think to ask when watching videos!

Steve answers first and explains to him filming and photographing actually enhances the experiences. It gives him an eye for more detail, makes him step back and really see everything that’s going on, and encourages him to try and see new things. In fact, many times we go and do things in order to make a video so we actually get to experience more!

Courtney, however, says its a mixed blessing. While it does encourage us to get out there and see more it can also take her out of the experience itself. Sometimes she has to remember to put away the camera and just enjoy the surroundings, the sounds and the smells of the hikes we do and the awe-inspiring natural world. Luckily she has Steve who is still filming so she can do this is she needs to.
