On this Airstream Life vLog, we do a couple last must-dos in the Twin Cities Region. We go for a Juicy Lucy *yum!) and check out Minnehaha Falls which was gorgeous though busy. Then we leave Minnesota and head south to Iowa where Courtney finds us a fabulous place to stay a few nights on Lake Okoboji.
Meanwhile, we try to be honest here so we tell you about a major mistake we made that could have been disastrous but we didn’t manage to get on film. For those wondering how we fixed the situation (since Steve didn’t say) here it is.
We first put chocks behind the wheels of the Airstream so it wouldn’t go anywhere. We then put the hitch down to take the pressure correctly instead of having the Airstream front resting on the Hensley. Then we unhooked the safety chains, the emergency brake line, and the electrical cord. Now we were pretty much back at a normal starting position for hooking up (though in the middle of the campground). So we put the stinger into the receiver on the truck, this time WITH THE PIN. Lined everything up and hitched back up as normal.
We were lucky we had no damage from the incident and it reminded us to stay very alert when it comes to safety and towing our home. After doing it hundreds of times its easy but dangerous to get complacent.
