From full-time RVing, to travel, to living in a tiny space we will share what we have learned from living this lifestyle. We encourage you to comment below with your own advice on this topic, as well as any other How-Tos you would like to see.
This week’s topic is How To Keep Your RV/Airstream Clean While Camping in the Wilderness. We try to boondock or camp in the wilderness without hookups as much as we can. We’ve learned that this can mean a very messy Airstream home between us and our dogs. We’ve worked out a method and some tips and tricks that work for us. Keeping the Airstream clean on the inside means taking some preventative measures on the outside. We highly recommend an outdoor area rug right outside your RV door to prevent tracking in mud or dirt. We also have a mat right inside the Airstream to wipe feet on as well. It is also useful to get or make a portable sprayer to spray down muddy feet or animal paws outside on the area rug before stepping inside.
Once inside it’s important to have someplace close to the door to store shoes so that they aren’t worn too far into the RV. We also recommend changing out any carpeting in the entry area as it is hard to clean. We switched ours out to a vinyl plank flooring which is so much easier. We vacuum and Swiffer it every day or two to keep everything nice and clean. A few other tips involve watching for dusty days and dirt coming in the windows, making our own cleaner and covering upholstery with blankets that we can wash instead of having to deal with the upholstery itself.

Love your site, and your YouTube channel even more. Short, informative, and a short intro!
We notice on most of your hikes you both carry backpacks. Perhaps an episode on what you carry and why?
Thanks so much Tony! We’ve been thinking of doing a hiking pack video. Thanks so much for the suggestion, you’ll hopefully see it soon!

Great tips Courtney! I would like to add when water is at a premium (boondocking) we found that using one of those sticky paper pet hair rollers work great for cleaning our AC foam filters and AC vents
Ooo great tip! I bet that would work on the Fantastic Fan screens and even the window screens as well. Thanks!
