On Tuesday’s we’d like to answer questions sent to us from viewer’s like you and share some of the details of our Airstream life. If you have a question for us please let us know in the comments below.
Hi, I have a water-borne viral infection that I’m having trouble shaking. It very nearly killed me. The doctor has told me one single drop of tainted water could kill me and no one can save me. I call him “Dr. Dreamcrusher” because he just says, “no, you can’t do that!” He says this about international travel where the water isn’t clean. I’m on an international travel ban until I’m better. I’m supposed to only drink filtered water and nothing straight from the tap.
What can you tell me about the water safety of the fresh water tank?
If the tank is flushed and sanitized is it safe to drink and cook with the water?
If I use a water filter to filter drinking water is the water safe to drink for someone like me?
Thanks
Hi Anja
I would think you would need a special water filter to really make sure your water is safe. We just have an RV filter on our hose that we use to fill our tanks but I would think you should also make sure the fresh water tank is filtered on the way out. A lot of RVers will use a Berkey Water Filtration system on their countertops and ONLY use that water for drinking and cooking. That might be the right method for you. http://www.bigberkeywaterfilters.com/travel-berkey-water-filter.html I know The More We Explore uses one as do a few others I think. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate it.
Yes, I would definitely need a heavy duty water filter. I’m not allowed to drink water that isn’t filtered.
Thanks for the tip!
