This week in our RV Financials series we start talking about budgeting for full-time RVing in our effort to answer how much does full-time RVing cost. We focus this week on budgeting for camping costs. There a number of things to consider when trying to budget for camping costs. If you have tracked your spending in the past, you should know what your camping costs were. For software to help track your spending while RVing check out the links below. Sometimes tracking your spending can really help in determining how much to budget but there are other factors to consider.

First is how you like to camp. If you prefer campground to boondocking you are obviously going to spend more. Even the difference between state park campgrounds to resorts like KOAs makes a difference. You also need to consider what camping spots you like. Do you prefer back-ins or pull-thrus? What season are you planning for? We know that in the summer we end up spending a lot more on camping because places often charge more (high season) and we want electricity more due to the heat. However since we budget for the year we’re okay spending more on camping in the summer and less in the fall/winter when we can find free camping more easily.
