Video Description
On this Airstream Life vLog, we get to explore Letchworth State Park in New York, called the Grand Canyon of the East Coast.
We start the day off at the Lower Falls but things don’t go quite to plan. The trail was closed with a ton of police activity so no lower falls for us. O well. We continue driving and this time park by the Glen Iris Inn and the Middle Falls.
Wow, the Middle Falls is over 100 ft tall and impressive! You can get to a couple of overlooks along the gorge trail including one right at the top of the falls. Looking down the rushing water is exhilarating!
The walk to the Upper Falls from the Middle Falls is pretty easy along the river. The Upper Falls is not as large as the Middle (only 70 ft) but has a gorgeous old railroad bridge over it which makes it super unique. We again get to go to multiple overlooks to see the Upper Falls including at the top. Wow!
After seeing the falls we’re hungry. Luckily the Glen Iris Inn serves a lovely lunch! We get to sit outside on the patio and listen to the Middle Falls as we dine. Amazing! We’ve certainly never seen a restaurant in a state park before. We highly recommend it!
Finally on the way back to our campground in the northern part of the park we check out a bunch of the overlooks into the canyon. Hope you liked Steve’s photography. The views were amazing!
Letchworth State Park is a great day trip. You can see so many waterfalls and amazing views with very little hiking or walking. Plus the drive through the park is lovely as well.
In our next video, Steve’s going to share some photo tips on photographing rushing water…so stay tuned!
