Exploring Around Lake Tahoe
In today’s video, we drive around Lake Tahoe and take in the gorgeous lake from all sides including a fire lookout. We stop to pick up some craft beer, climb around a waterfall and check out Squaw Valley. Lastly, we head to Donner Lake and the Rainbow Bridge on Donner Summit and eat some delicious tacos. We’re loving out time in Truckee/Tahoe!

Ah, so many memories in that area. It was a huge snow year for Tahoe, so lot’s of runoff. And yes, Courtney, the water is cold! It will not reach swim temperatures until August, if then. The hike down to the bottom of Emerald Bay was worth doing, but so many things to do there you can’t do them all. In 2007 I ran the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run that starts at the lodge and runs to the top of Squaw Valley and then 95 miles west to Auburn, CA, through the Sierras. It is run the third week of June on the summer solstice to give the runners as much daylight as possible. This year I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to run through 20 miles of snow.
Wow yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised either especially with the weather this weekend too. Lots of snow everywhere this year! Crazy!
