Video Description
On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave the state park in Delaware and cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge over to New Jersey to stay at a KOA south of Philadelphia. We also get the Airstream ready for the 1st guest we’ve had in years, Courtney’s sister.
After picking up Courtney’s sister the plan was to show you guys our adventures the next day….but things got a little extra adventurous in the middle of the night. We were abruptly awoken at 3:30am by Emergency Alerts going off on ALL our phones. Tornado Warning. Literally right where we were. The warning explained they had seen rotation in the clouds but due to heavy rain could not tell and would not be able to tell if a Tornado had touched down.
So being in an Airstream we decided to be safe rather than sorry and we all ran through the pouring rain to the KOA bathrooms to wait it out. We shivered in the cold for a while watching the weather radar and listening to the wind, thunder, and lightning outside before the Tornado warning had passed. Then we ran back to the Airstream and worked on getting warm with tea and the heat. By a little, after 4am we were back in bed. Wow! That was an experience and a 1st for us.
The next day the 3 of us headed into Philadelphia to do a little food based exploring. We stopped at Federal Donuts, the City Tavern (drinking with the Founding Fathers) and finally our meetup at the South District Brewery. We also dropped Jess (Courtney’s sister) back off at the bus station after she filled us in on what staying in the Airstream was like. Back to meetup thanks to everyone who came. We had an absolutely wonderful time (wow the time flew by) and we hope we can meet up on the road again someday!
Want more Philadelphia? We explore some of the historical sites in our next video so stay tuned!
