Video Description
On this Airstream Life vLog, we finally make it to Northern VA to visit Steve’s family.
We are staying at Candy Hill Campground in Winchester VA. It’s a nice campground though expensive since we decided we wanted a premium site, away from the highway. In general, we prefer State Parks such as Lake Guntersville. They are cheaper, the sites are bigger, and in our opinion, they are often nicer than private campgrounds. However, Candy Hill will be fine for visiting family over the next week which is our top priority.
Our first adventure with the family is a drive into Washington DC. We stop at Gravelly Point near Reagan National Airport on the way. Here you can stand right under the flight path of the planes landing at Reagan as long as the wind is in the right direction. It was today! Wow some of those planes are huge! We had such a great time watching them and taking goofy photos…
Next stop is the Cherry Blossom Festival around the Tidal Basin in Washington DC. We are here right before peak bloom and boy is it pretty. The cherry blossom trees were donated to the US by Japan in 1912. There are over 3000 trees here and it’s amazing to be here and walk the 2 miles around the basin while they are all in bloom. National Monuments and Cherry Blossoms at the same time?! Win!
Stay tuned for our next video when we do some exploring back in western VA…including going underground!
