Friday Favorite – Books & Genres
This week’s Friday Favorite is our favorite authors and book genres. Reading is one of our favorite nightly activities and we spend at least 30 minutes reading fiction before going to bed every night, regardless of where we are camped. While Courtney enjoys reading fantasies, historical fiction, and classics, Steve has grown to love westerns, mysteries, and thrillers. Do you have a favorite genre or author you’d like us to check out? Let us know in the comments below!

Occasionally on Friday’s, we’d like to share with you some of our Favorite Things. These can be products, websites, or anything else that we love. Note we will ALWAYS say whether we are sponsored in any form from the companies we are sharing and these videos will ALWAYS reflect our true opinions. These are the things that bring us joy and we hope they can become your favorites as well.
I like all sorts of reading, but especially travel themed adventures. A favorite of this type is Blue Highways by William Least Heat-Moon, about his travels around America in his van. Courtney may like Illona Andrews (husband and wife writing team); they fall into the paranormal fantasy romance categories and have great storytelling and world building.
I (Courtney) have read Blue Highways and loved it but haven’t tried Illona Andrews yet. I’ll look them up! Thanks so much!
I second Sharon’s Illona Andrews recommendation. For great Sci fi ‘light’ check out Becky Chambers. Steve might like Stephen Kings Mr Mercedes series, 3 books goes from straight mystery in the 1st book to more supernatural/horror in the 3rd. Are you on Goodreads? That’s a great place for recommendations.
You probably already know some libraries have book sales all the time, at least mine does and it’s cheap $1 books
Thanks for the recommendations. We will definitely be checking out Illona Andrews! We are on Goodreads though I have to admit I only use it to look up new books. I don’t keep it up like I used to. Library book sales are a great tip too! We should look those up as we’re traveling around. Thanks!
